What certifications are required for computer power supplies at home and abroad

Domestic Standards

GB 20943-2025: is the Energy Efficiency Limit Values and Energy Efficiency Classes for AC-DC and AC-AC Power Supplies issued by the National Standardization Administration of China. The standard, which will be implemented in February 2027, categorizes power supplies into single-output type, adjustable-voltage single-output type, multi-output type, embedded power supply, etc. The energy-efficiency class is divided into levels 1 to 3, and imposes strict limitations on the conversion efficiency, standby power consumption, and power factor.

GB 4943.1-2011: Equivalent to the “Safety of Information Technology Equipment Part 1: General Requirements” which adopts IEC 60950-1:2013, it stipulates the safety requirements for information technology equipment such as computer power supplies, including electrical safety, mechanical safety, and fire safety.

International Standards

ATX Specification: Developed by Intel, the ATX specification has gone through several versions of development, such as ATX 12V 1.3, ATX 12V 2.0, ATX 12V 2.2, ATX 12V 2.3, etc. The ATX 3.0 standard, introduced in 2022, improves the graphics power supply interface in response to the increase in power consumption of the graphics card by adopting the 16-pin 12VHPWR interface and enhancing the power supply's ability to cope with transient ultra-high power.

IEC 60950-1:2013: It is a safety standard for information technology equipment developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission, which has been widely adopted globally and provides internationally harmonized guidelines for the safety design and testing of computer power supplies and other equipment.

In addition, if computer power supplies are to be exported to different countries and regions, they also need to meet the relevant local standards and certification requirements, such as FCC certification and UL certification in the U.S., CE certification in the EU, etc.
